SAE AS13100™ Standard and Related Resources

The SAE AS13100™ AESQ Quality Management System Requirements for Aero Engine Design and Production Organizations Standard has been created to harmonize and simplify supplier quality requirements that are in addition to the requirements of AS/EN/SJAC9100 Quality Management Systems - Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations and AS/EN/SJAC9145 Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process.

AS13100 sets out to create a common set of supplemental requirements with common reference materials to improve understanding, efficiency, and performance. While significantly simplifying the businesses of suppliers with multiple customers, the primary intent of this new standard is to improve overall product quality by focusing on the key systems and processes currently deterring consistent aerospace engine product quality.

AESQ has provided the following materials to support your transition to and implementation of AS13100:

AS13100 Common Questions & Answers
Q. Is there going to be a common set of customer (AESQ companies) specific requirements for AS9145 PPAP?
A. There will be a common set of requirements, but there may be some customer specific requirements remaining.
Q. What is the process for AS13100 certification?
A. AS13100 is not a certifiable standard.  Compliance will be assured through self-auditing, annual reporting plus customer audit (2nd party) as required today.
Q. Will AS13100 replace AS9100?
A. No, AS13100 is supplementary to the requirements of AS9100.
Q. We do not supply the engine makers directly – will this standard be flowed down to use?
A. Yes, it is applicable to the entire aero engine supply chain.
Q. For Quality Auditor Training, will the AS13100 requirements course suffice?
A. In AS13100, certification of Lead Auditors requires both an Aerospace Lead Auditor training course (e.g. AS9100 Lead Auditor course) with documented content and examination as well as AS13100 familiarization which can be satisfied by the AESQ AS13100 Supplemental Quality Management System Requirements course, available at: https://discover.sae.org/AS13100 or equivalent training.
