Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) & Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

The purpose of the APQP  and PPAP Subject Matter Interest Group is to promote the effective deployment of AS13100 APQP/PPAP, Reference Manual RM13145 and provide guidance throughout the supply chain.

The key areas of focus are:
  1. Maintain AS13100 / RM13145 APQP and PPAP content through lessons learnt and community input.
  2. Develop acceptable means of compliance for APQP and PPAP Elements.
  3. Promote effective working practices throughout the phases of APQP that enable:
    • Management engagement
    • Healthy APQP Project Management
    • Cross functional team
    • Risk and concern management
    • Team to Team, supplier to customer actions
    • Organisation competence
  4. Clarify the relationship between PPAP and product and process validation practices such as First Article Inspection.
  5. Promote community Q&A, sharing of learning and seeking supply chain/cross functional feedback
  6. Promote meaningful APQP and PPAP training standardised syllabus (RM13145) and recognise training providers.

Current Activities
  • Promote the user of APQP and PPAP Events, Pass criteria and management practices.
  • Develop acceptable means of compliance through a common question set for PPAP Elements.
  • Approve training service providers.
  • Create examples of varying situations and how to plan and execute APQP and PPAP.
