AS13100 Deployment Update
The AESQ member companies have set the goal that AS13100 will become part of all members' company-specific supplier quality requirements documents (e.g. ASQR-01, SABRe, S-1000) and be a contractual requirement of their supplier base by December 31, 2022. This leaves suppliers 16 months to review the new standard, perform the internal compliance analysis as described in RM13009, and then address and eliminate any gaps prior to the December 31, 2022 deadline.
The AESQ members will also be publishing updated versions of their company-specific requirements documents over the coming months (one company has already done so). In addition to AS13100, there will still be some company-specific requirements in these documents (often describing specific forms or electronic systems to be used) but most of the requirements on suppliers will be contained in AS13100. For this reason, it is vital that suppliers to AESQ member companies begin to address their own AS13100 compliance status.
As an example, the AESQ has developed a Milestone Plan to support AS13100 transition planning. In this (very high-level) plan, it is recommended that by now, companies should have purchased and read the AS13100 standard, key Quality Leaders at suppliers should have already taken the AS13100 Requirements Training course, and work should be started on adding AS13100 requirements to any internal AS9100 (or other required certification) compliance matrices and the AS13100 compliance self-evaluation of RM13009 begun or scheduled to begin very soon. How far along is your company in this plan?
