Plan now to participate in the Aero Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) Virtual Supplier Forums to learn more about the SAE AS13100™ AESQ Quality Management System Requirements for Aero Engine Design and Production Organizations Standard and related transition planning.
Aero Engine Manufacturers are required to flow down regulatory and customer requirements to their supply chain. Because of the product complexity and links to safety, they tend to include more stringent requirements than the rest of the aircraft systems and components. AS13100 was created to replace customer specific quality requirements - leading to simplification and harmonization between engine manufacturer supply chains.
AESQ is offering 2 opportunities to participate in these 3-hour events which include presentations by Senior Leadership from AESQ member companies responsible for Supplier Selection and Management.
The Aerospace Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) Strategy Group was established as a Program of the SAE ITC to guide, development, promote and deploy a common set of quality requirements, in particular those created by the SAE International G-22 AESQ Technical Committee.
In March of 2021, the SAE AS13100™ AESQ Quality Management System Requirements for Aero Engine Design and Production Organizations Standard was published with a target date for implementation by the AESQ member’s suppliers of December 31, 2022.
In order to better understand how AS13100 preparations are progressing at AESQ member suppliers, the AESQ has designed a survey to collect supplier feedback on implementation activities and suggestions on future improvements to the Standard and the implementation tools used to support it.
One of the first tools developed by AESQ to support the aero engine supply chain is Reference Manual RM13009 Compliance Assessment. This free resource provides a structure for companies to begin to identify their current compliance to the new SAE AS13100™ Standard including a 3-Part Self-Assessment Checklist that can be used to document both compliance and any gaps that may exist needing addressing.
Prior to conducting the Self-Assessment, it is highly recommended that a company’s Quality Leaders follow the SAE AS13100™ Requirements Training Course (on-line/ 10 hours) and/or the AESQ Quality Foundations Course to ensure complete understanding of the AS13100 requirements.
As part of AESQ's ongoing webinar series, a number of events have been scheduled for Spring 2022 including:
These webinars are presented by industry experts and include presentations supporting deployment of the SAE AS13100™ Standard.

Learn how AS13100 minimizes requirements and improves overall product quality by focusing on the key quality systems and processes! Through the free Executive Overview video series and a self-paced, online Requirements Course, your organization can gain key knowledge about a common quality language, how to gain compliance to AS13100 and the business value and benefit of the standard.
The three-day Quality Foundations Course is designed to bring together key quality systems, processes, and methodologies to show how they work as part of a system to focus on defect prevention. It is intended to support Quality Leaders at all levels in the organization in understanding how these tools and processes work and the characteristics of successful deployment.
