IAQG and AESQ Ensure Alignment Between Quality Standards

Through joint dedication to improving quality in the aerospace industry, the Aerospace Engine Supplier Quality Strategy Group (AESQ), a Program of the SAE ITC, and the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) continue to partner to further their respective missions.

While both organizations maintain complementary, non-competing initiatives, their partnership is managed by a collaboration team comprised of IAQG and AESQ members. The IAQG provides standardization and reduces additional, company-specific quality requirements throughout the overall aerospace and defense aviation industry, while the AESQ focus is specific to the aero-engine supply chain and the reduction of additional, company-specific quality requirements flowed down contractually by the OEM’s.

IAQG and AESQ members are aligned with their commitment to contractually flow down the AS/EN/JISQ 9100 series. A goal of the collaboration is to keep both the IAQG and the AESQ informed of each other’s initiatives providing opportunities for joint success. Through this collaboration, AESQ and IAQG regularly review the other’s standards to avoid duplications and ensure alignment between the AS13xxx series and the AS/EN/JISQ 91xx series.

The AS13100 and AS/EN/JISQ 9100 Standards are designed as complimentary documents where IAQG manages AS9100 for aerospace, space and defense suppliers, and AESQ manages AS13100 for aero engine supply chains. AS13100 replaces major parts of the Aero Engine Manufacturers’ unique supplier requirements by creating a single set of harmonized requirements. They are in addition (supplemental) to ISO9001, AS/EN/JISQ 9100 and Nadcap and do not replace them.

AESQ and IAQG will continue their partnership to ensure collaboration and alignment for an improved aerospace industry into the future.

About AESQ

The Aerospace Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) Strategy Group, a program of the SAE ITC, was established to develop, specify, maintain, promote, and deploy quality standards specific to the Aerospace Engine supply chain. This work is intended to reduce customer specifics through a focused set of standards that integrate industry best practice and aerospace engine unique elements. AESQ member companies include GE Aviation, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Safran, GKN, Honeywell, Howmet, IHI, MTU, and PCC. Further information about AESQ including SAE G-22 standards, events, training, and support materials can be found on AESQ's website at: http://aesq.sae-itc.com

About IAQG

The International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) was established in 1998. In 2013, the IAQG became an International Not-For-Profit Association under Belgium Law. The IAQG sets the standard for quality within the worldwide supply chain of the aerospace industry. The organization is comprised of member companies within the aviation, space and defense industries who design, development, manufacture and support original equipment at system or subsystem levels. The IAQG is committed to establishing commonality of quality systems and improvement standards. These standards are documented, published, and applied internationally by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and circulated throughout the supply chain. Further information about IAQG including standards, events, tools and support materials can be found on IAQG’s website at: https://iaqg.org/
